Why should I go to the dentist regularly?
Tooth decay often does not hurt until it gets close to the nerve of the tooth. It is not uncommon to see a patient with a huge cavity who has never felt a thing. The dentist can usually detect a cavity 3-4 years before it develops any symptoms. This early detection can help you prevent root canal treatment. In other words, regular checkups can save you time, hassle and money later on down the road.
What can I do about sensitive teeth?
Sensitivity toothpaste, which contains strontium chloride or potassium nitrate, are very effective in treating sensitive teeth and is what Dr. Koumas recommends before seeking other treatment. After a few weeks of use, you may notice a decrease in sensitivity. There are special compounds that can be applied in-office to the roots of your tooth to reduce – if not eliminate the sensitivity. If your tooth sensitivity does not go away after using sensitivity toothpaste, please call our office to schedule an appointment with Dr. Koumas. (845) 561-1108
How often should I replace my toothbrush?
We stick with the ADA standards and recommend replacing your toothbrush every 3 months. If you’d like to learn more about when to change your toothbrush, check out our extensive article!
Are teeth considered bones?
That’s a great question, and since it’s such an in-depth and interesting topic, we wrote a blog about it! Check it out and let us know what you think!
